Netherlands to host International Conference on Science and Non-duality (Advaitavaad)
In one of such rare events, scientists and philosophers are
coming together to discuss, 'Advaitvaad' or non-duality, one of the
branches of Hinduism, or Sanatan Dharma. The "Science &
noduality Conference" (SAND) is to be organised at Doorn in
Netherlands, from May 29th to June 3rd. It is being organised by
"Neti Neti Media" which aims to be a bridge between modern science
and ancient traditions. The theme for this year is "The Nature of
The Self". This conference is being organised since 2009.
The logo of the conference shows a tweaked version of Einstein's mass-energy equivalence equation, E = mc square with E replaced by Hindu symbol 'Om'. The sponsors of the conference include the Institute of Noetic Sciences, California, the California Institute of Integral Studies, MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedellic Studies), Spiritual network Here-Now-TV, Sounds True, East Bay and The International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine, ISSSEEM.
The mission of the conference is listed as to "Heal the schism between science and spirituality while defining a new understanding of what it means to be human, inspired by the mystics and grounded in modern Science."
The site proclaims that Science and Nonduality is a journey, an exploration of the nature of awareness, the essence of life from which all arises and subsides. It defines Nonduality as the philosophical, spiritual, and scientific understanding of non-separation and fundamental intrinsic oneness. For thousand of years, through deep inner inquiry, philosophers and sages have came to the realization that there is only one substance and we are therefore all part of it. This substance can be called Awareness, Consciousness, Spirit, Advaita, Brahman, Tao, Nirvana or even God. It is constant, ever present, unchangeable and is the essence of all existence.
