In yet another blow to those who ordered the crackdown against Baba Ramdev at the mid-night of 4th-5th June last year, the Delhi Police has been forced to register an FIR against its own Police officers (albeit anonymous) for causing hurt and injuries to Baba Ramdev's supporters. This has come  fortnight after the Supreme Court asked it to do so. The case was been registered at the Kamla Market Police Station in Central Delhi.

In a major embarrassment to the UPA government, which controls the Delhi Police, the apex court had come down heavily on the State and the Delhi Police for the midnight crackdown on Baba Ramdev and his followers and sought criminal prosecution as well as disciplinary action against erring police personnel. The court had described the use of tear gas, lathi charge, brick batting and chasing of people out of the Ramlila Maidan on the mid-night of June 4-5 as "unjustifiable and brutal acts" on the part of the police.

At the Supreme Court order on February 22, City Police Commissioner BK Gupta had then said they were asked to take disciplinary action against those policemen who indulged in brick-batting or lathicharge against protesters and register criminal cases against policemen and members of the gathering for destruction of public property. "They have divided collective responsibility and individual responsibility...we have to take disciplinary action against these policemen", Gupta had said.
