Chidambaram gets brickbats for remarks on food inflation
Bangalore, (ANI): Home Minister P Chidambaram is at the receiving end of brickbats from the opposition for saying that the Indian middle class spends money on mineral water and ice cream without a fuss, but protests against a small increase in the price of food commodities. Addressing a news conference at Bangalore on Tuesday, Chidambaram made this remark while stating that the increase in procurement prices is benefiting farmers and thus naturally raising the price to be paid by the consumer. Reacting sharply on this, the BJP said that such a remark reflects the lack of concern for the commoners by the Congress.
